Temporary borrowers

Residents of New South Wales who are visiting​ the area may become temporary members of the library. Temporary memberships will expire after three months.

Items for loan

Library members can borrow up to 20 items per membership card.

These 20 items can be made up of any combination of the following:

  • Books
  • Audio Books (CD or mp3)
  • Music CDs
  • DVDs
  • Magazines
  • Toys
Members can also borrow up to 5 eBooks from each of our eResources

The borrowing period is:

  • One week for magazines and "Fast Reads" books; and
  • Three weeks for all other material.

Items can be borrowed from and returned to any branch, or the Bookmobile. After-hours returns chutes are available at each branch.

Items may be renewed once (providing they have not been reserved by another customer). You can renew over the phone on 4304 7500, or through the Member Services area of our Online Catalogue

Fees and charges

Overdue books If items are more than 14 days overdue borrowing rights suspended.
If items are more than 30 days overdue lost fees apply, unless item(s) returned. 
Lost books Cost determined by the Coordinator, Library Services in addition to a $12 processing fee.
Damaged items Cost determined by the Coordinator, Library Services in addition to a $12 processing fee.
Reservation fee $2 per item, when the item is on loan ($1 for seniors and under 18s). 
Free transfer of items between branches
Replacement library card $1 
Inter-library loans

Items requested from public libraries: $5
Items from non-public libraries: $16.50 plus $5 request fee.
Rush 24 hour request: $33 plus $5 request fee.
Express 2 hours: $49 plus $5 request fee.
Lost or damaged inter library loan: Up to $160

Photocopying/printing charges

A4 Black and white: 20c per page
A4 Colour: $1.50 per page
A3 Black and white: 60c per page
A3 Colour: $2.50 per page

Research enquiry $85.00 per hour

How do I renew my items?

Items may be renewed in person, by telephone or online. Overdue items cannot be renewed online; you must visit one of the branches. Items can only be renewed once and then only if the item has not been reserved by another customer.

Please note there is no renewal or reservation on Fast Reads.

How do I return my items when the library is closed?

All Libraries except for Gwandalan and Mooney Mooney have a return chute near the front entry.
