Environment & Waste

Waste Services

Residents and businesses on the Central Coast are provided with a comprehensive recycling and waste service which is managed by waste contractor, Cleanaway.

Council operates Three Waste Management Facilities for the disposal or recycling of domestic, business and green waste as well as Hazardous Materials.

New streamlined waste services from 1 February 2018

From 1 February 2018, Council partnered with Cleanaway Pty Ltd to deliver essential waste services across the Central Coast.

For most residences, there will be little or no disruption to your current service.

However, streamlining our routing across the Central Coast local government areas will mean a change to the bin collection day for some residences. Find out more information

Planet Ark business recycling

The Business Recycling website and hotline is designed to make it easy for businesses, especially small and medium sized businesses, to find recycling services in their area.

Businesses can find out about local recycling services by calling the Business Recycling hotline on 1300 763 768 or go to the Business Recycling page.

The site lists national and local reuse and recycling options for around 90 different materials with an easy 'search for service' function.

It is also a site for comprehensive recycling information and other resources.

Waste initiatives and resources

Second Hand Saturday encourages Central Coast Council residents to hold a garage sale to sell, swap or give away their pre-loved goods.

Waste and recycling tours

Central Coast Council and Cleanaway offer guided bus tours throughout the year of your local waste management facilities.

These tours are a great way to learn about how the local landfills operate, how your green waste is processed, how recycled materials are sorted and what happens with the recovered materials.

Bookings are essential and places are limited.

For more information on waste and recycling tours or visits, visit the 1Coast website, email info@1coast.com.au or call 1300 126 278.
